Rakaia Gorge

The next hike on a free afternoon went to the Rakaia Gorge. A Gorge is a canyon, usually by a river flows (somehow, the gorge are so incurred), here the Rakaia River.
The hike was 4.5 h, 11.5 km.

I went along with Nadine, who works here in the hostel. super nice, but sometimes it's a Bißle uncanny how similar we are in the way of thinking, the taste (I previously knew no one who was Andi Möller-fan), in the sense of humor. All the same, of the importance of Harry Potter Books to the favorite character in Lord of the Rings (Eowyn), on Nutella and peanut butter to Johnny Depp and Bully Herbig. Real funny.
The scenery is absolutely outrageous. But do yourself a picture.

It was so hot that my head has smoked-as you can see ;-) Anyway, it
went up and down alternately, partly in the forest, sometimes in the blazing sun at 29 degrees (as I said, feels like 39). Finally, it was again a steep hill without shade or wind, that was real borderline exhausting. But
beautiful and it was definitely worth it.
